Terminei 3! / Finished 3!

It's been really hard to keep the enthusiasm with crafting. I'm not sure if it's because of the shorter days or the need redo the creative space but I keep procrastinating. I did finished the quilt and I made one pillow case but I have a long list of ideas just waiting.

Knitting is still the easiest thing to do because doesn't take much space and is really portable. :P I made a hat thinking about winter but now I think I'll need something that the end result is nothing like it should be. The worst part is that I don't even know where I made the mistakes. :(

I finished a simple scarf for donation and made a cup holder that I can carry with me now that is getting colder. I have another scarf in the needles but I'm a slow knitter.

Fico cansada so de listar.

Much like fashion magazines, that creates those impossible perfect women, I'm starting to believe that reading craft blogs is bad for me. How these women with a job, children, husband/partners and a house have the energy, inspiration and time to produce so much?! They cook, sew, design patterns, help their children and their schools, write daily blog posts... I got tired just listing those here. :( Every time I read/see those posts and compare my results (or my tentatives) I feel more incompetent and incapable than ever. Nothing I do is as good, as beautiful or as useful as what is shown on the internet. And since I'm by myself, 90% of what I do is for given away, so if the results don't have that quality, why bother? Not even the titles of my posts are original! :(  I started this post with a different title but I went to check my other posts and then I found out I already used that title before! I came back to think of something else and voila, an even less inspiring title was born.

E vou dizer, eu nao sobreviveria a essas rotinas!

Fashion magazines at least give the idea of professionalism and people being paid to look a certain way, with lots of effort and money put in it to get those results. Blogs seems to be a window for common people, someone like me, to write and show a bit of their days. And let me tell you, I wouldn't survive some of the routines I see around!

I think the option is to read less about what others do and focus on what I want to make. More and more I believe one of the worst things of this all connected technological world is the need we seem to feel to compare ourselves to others and go for targets and standards that aren't ours. It's nice to see good examples but sad to try to compare to them and give up when they are impossible to achieve.

I have the above image at my work desk. I think I'll put it at home too. I just love the minions from Despicable Me.

22/05 - Caught my attention

Oklahoma tornado (with video). What happened to that underground safehouse we used to see in movies? Why public buildings, like schools, don't have them? A basement under each classroom with a trapdoor giving access. A big space that can be entered from a variety of points. Is that hard to have these? CNN coverage.

Same sex marriage coming to UK.

Yahoo buys Tumblr and revamps Flickr. There is hope?

There is an app if you want to record and remember your dreams.

Beatles behind the scenes. Just because.

Movies for the rest of 2013. Don't agree with all, I'll probably see anything Johnny Depp does... :P  but here is the tip.

20/05 - Caught my attention

A NZ website to rate employers. Why the employers can judge a prospective/actual worker by their social media sites, but an employee shouldn't be able to comment about the place of work?

Privacy vs Google Glass. US politicians, and I think the rest of us, would like to know.

How living in crowded cities are changing us.

Jolie's medical choice. Brave and bold.

LinkedIn impressive resume. It's a social media site related to work. Of course you should be more careful here than in Facebook. FB causes enough trouble already.

Research in halter the allergy march done in Wellington (with video).

U.S. will go to Syria? Shocking video of Syria's rebels. How  much the West understands the Middle East culture to really be effective with military or humanitarian interventions?

Weird and wonderful world of 3D printing. So many good things can be done. So much garbage can contribute to waste.

Three women found after years of capitivity. I must say I didn't read the whole story, just the headings. The information was enough to give me nightmares.

YouTube to start charging for some videos. We pay or we revert to the exchange society.
